Classic Rooms

Classic Rooms are the basis of the resident rates shown above. They are suitable for couples, friends and solo travellers who want to enjoy the Country Club’s grounds and facilities.

Two-Bedroom Cottages

Many cottage rooms can be interconnected. They generally offer a combination of double and twin accommodation, making them useful for families who want separate bedrooms with an internal door.

The rooms are booked separately. If connecting rooms are essential, tell us when requesting availability so we can confirm the correct pair of rooms.

Depending on the cottage, room features may include:

Family Cottages

Family cottages suit parents and children who want more space than a standard room. Some provide connecting bedrooms, while larger cottage arrangements can accommodate an extended family or group.

Send us the number of guests, children’s ages and required bed arrangement so we can recommend the most suitable option.

Kinangop Cottage

Kinangop Cottage has a Deluxe room, two standard twin rooms and a shared sitting room. Its bedrooms are not interconnecting, so we would recommend another arrangement if an internal door between parents’ and children’s rooms is essential.

The Nursery

The Nursery is a larger cottage building with several rooms, including a Deluxe room and an accessible room. If a guest has mobility requirements, we will check the exact room, bathroom and route to the restaurant before confirming a booking.

Suites and Deluxe Rooms

For a special occasion or a more spacious stay, ask us about the Honeysuckle Suite, VIP Suite and Deluxe rooms. We will provide the available category, current photographs and a room-specific price for your dates.

Meals are served in the main dining room. The Lord Aberdare Bar is a comfortable place for an afternoon drink or an evening beside the fireplace.

Dining Times

Times may change for events or special arrangements. If you have an early game drive, request a packed breakfast or lunch by the previous evening.

Aberdare Country Club Menu and Prices

If you want to visit the restaurant without staying overnight, contact us for the current menu, meal prices and day-visitor arrangements.

Guests on half board and full board should let us know about dietary requirements, children’s meals or a special celebration when booking. Private dinners, bush meals and sundowners can be arranged separately.

Due to its expansive grounds and activities, only two and half hours from Nairobi and fifteen minutes from Nyeri town, Aberdare Country Club is well suited for many kinds of activities. These include but are not limited to:

Guided Nature Walks

Guided walks explore the Country Club’s private sanctuary. You may see giraffes, zebras, antelopes and birds while learning about the surrounding landscape.

Walks should be booked with a guide. Wildlife sightings depend on animal movements and cannot be guaranteed.

Horse Riding

Horse riding is one of the Country Club’s signature activities. Let us know whether you are a beginner or an experienced rider, and we will check the available ride, duration, age requirements and price.

Golf

You can arrange a round of golf during your stay. Ask us to check tee times, green fees and equipment availability if golf is an important part of your trip.

Swimming Pool

The swimming pool provides a relaxed alternative to a game drive or guided activity. Families should supervise children throughout their time at the pool.

Spa and Gym

The Country Club has a spa and fitness facilities. Treatments, sauna and steam facilities should be booked or confirmed in advance, particularly on busy weekends.

Tennis and Cycling

Tennis and cycling may also be available. We can check current equipment, access and any applicable activity charge when arranging your stay.

Sundowners and Bush Dining

For a celebration or group trip, ask us about a sundowner, bush breakfast, lunch or private dinner. These experiences need advance arrangements and are quoted separately from the standard meal plan.

The Country Club Sanctuary

Aberdare Country Club sits within a private sanctuary where guests may encounter giraffes, zebras, gazelles, warthogs and birdlife. This adds a wildlife element to time spent on the grounds, even when you are not visiting a national park.

Keep a respectful distance from animals and follow the staff’s guidance, particularly when walking with children.

Aberdare National Park

We can arrange a game drive into Aberdare National Park to explore its forests, moorland, waterfalls and wildlife. Your quotation can include a private vehicle, guide, park entry and a planned route.

The Country Club itself remains outside the national park, so an Aberdare game drive is a separate excursion.

Solio Game Reserve

Solio is a worthwhile day trip for travellers whose priority is seeing black and white rhinos. We can arrange a private game drive and include reserve entry in your safari quote.

Sanctuary Night Drive

A night drive may be arranged within the Country Club’s own sanctuary. This is a separate activity from a daytime Aberdare National Park visit and is subject to availability and the applicable safety rules.

Is Aberdare Country Club inside Aberdare National Park?

No. The Country Club is in its own private sanctuary outside the park. Its sister property, The Ark, is inside Aberdare National Park.

How much does Aberdare Country Club cost?

The September 2026 East African resident Classic Room rate starts at KES 10,300 per person sharing on half board. From 1 October to 22 December 2026, it starts at KES 6,800 per person sharing on half board. Rates depend on availability and room category.

Are the rates per person or per room?

The resident rates shown above are per person, per night. PPS means each adult pays that amount when sharing a room.

What is the difference between half board and full board?

Half board includes breakfast and dinner. Full board includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Are children allowed?

Yes. Child rates depend on age and whether children share with adults or have their own room. Give us their ages so we can recommend the appropriate accommodation.

Are there family cottages?

Yes. There are cottage configurations suitable for families, including connecting rooms. Confirm the connecting-room arrangement before booking.

Does Aberdare Country Club have a restaurant?

Yes. Meals are served in the main dining room, and drinks are available at the Lord Aberdare Bar.

Is Aberdare Country Club the same as The Ark?

No. They are sister properties. Aberdare Country Club is the outside-park hotel; The Ark is an inside-park lodge overlooking a waterhole.

How far is The Ark from Aberdare Country Club?

The transfer takes approximately 45 minutes, subject to the day’s arrangements and conditions.

Do I need membership to book a room?

No membership enquiry is needed for us to check hotel accommodation. Ask separately if you want information about club or golf membership.

Can I combine the Country Club with Samburu and the Masai Mara?

Yes. We can include it before heading to Samburu or Meru, or between Samburu and Lake Nakuru, Naivasha and the Masai Mara.
